About me

A short meditation at Tsokar Lake, Ladakh

My name is Marc, and I have been deeply connected with Tibetan Buddhism for many years.

Sports, health and well-being have always interested and inspired me – I played volleyball for many years, and for even longer I have been out on the road bike and mountain bike. What I particularly enjoy is feeling the connection to the body, its capacity, its coordination and its response to regular training.

Tibet and the Himalayas have always been fascinating ideas and regions for me – not because I knew much about them, but rather because of the unknown and the mystical. I gave little thought to Buddha – for me he was simply the god of the Buddhists. That Buddhism does without a creator god was one of the first surprises when I later looked more closely – more were to follow.

About twenty years ago this changed. I began to engage less with the content of my thoughts and became more and more interested in the workings of the mind itself – and in the causes of joy and suffering. In this process my enthusiasm grew for meditation and for Tibetan Buddhism with its extraordinary understanding of the mind.

Buddha's observations that attachment, aversion and ignorance are the true causes of suffering touched me directly, and I began to explore these insights in my own mind. For me, Buddhism is not a religion in the Western sense but an inner science whose statements anyone can verify for themselves.

Through several journeys to Ladakh and Nepal I was able to see Tibetan culture and its people with my own eyes. Landscape, monasteries, colors, symbolism and statues fascinated me from the very first moment. What touched me most deeply, however, were the Tibetans and Ladakhis themselves – with their warmth and their deep devotion to Buddha and his teachings. From this has grown a connection to the Himalayas, to Tibetan culture and to the wisdom of Buddhism that carries me to this day.

Over several years I attended teachings of various teachers. In November 2019 I first met Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche, whose personality spoke to me at once and whose teachings preserve the original wisdom of the tradition while at the same time offering simple access in everyday life.

In the years since, I have taken part in numerous personal retreats and online courses with him – on topics including Lu Jong, Gang Gyok, Tog Chöd, Tsa Lung, Tummo, Rigpa, inner home, the five elements, letting go and inner peace.

Integrating Buddhist insights into everyday life has changed my life profoundly – more strongly and in more ways than I would ever have expected. Practice, teachings and meditations work on many levels: less searching, more ease; less frustration, more contentment; less consumption, more depth.

Out of this experience, I would like to share general information about Buddhism on this website. Starting in autumn/winter 2026, I will offer courses in two methods of Tibetan Buddhism: Tsa Lung & Tog Chöd, in the lineage of Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche.

I look forward to hearing from you: marc@tsalung.de
